To Apply
Each new WILL class is selected in October. To apply to
become a member of WILL, download or print the application
and release
forms, fill them in and return the completed forms to:
Wilderness Leadership & Learning, Inc.
1758 Park Road, NW
Washington, DC 20010
Attn: Steve Abraham.
Our application asks for typical information (e.g., contact, health, and release info) along with short responses to a few questions—just to help us learn a little more about our potential members.
All new WILL members will be required to attend an Orientation with a parents or guardian. There, they will learn more about WILL and will be asked to commit to and participate in the program for at least one year. The best results come when families support their teens’ personal growth through WILL.
The WILL Family
Alumni
When members leave the formal WILL program, they remain part
of the WILL family. This page is where we keep up with what’s
happening in the lives of WILL “graduates.”
WILL graduates attend the following Colleges – Michigan
State; Lincoln University; Cleveland State; Purdue; UDC; Cornell;
Mount St. Mary’s; VCU; and Temple. Another WILL graduate,
a high school honor student, chose to serve his country and
is a Unites States Marine in aviation electronics.
A graduate from the first WILL Class, as a sophomore at Michigan
State, was selected by the Graduate School Black Caucus Executive
Committee to be the president of the Undergraduate Black Caucus;
a member of the 06-07 WILL class was the salutatorian of his
Class (#2 Academically) and is attending Cornell in the Fall.
Other WILL graduates continue to excel academically - several
are on the honor roll at their respective high schools and
take Advanced Placement (AP) classes; some are class representatives
to their respective school student governments; two played
on the runner-up DCIAA Girls Varsity Volleyball team; two
played on the DCIAA Champion Boys Varsity Soccer team; one
plays on several girls’ soccer teams and intends to
spend the fall playing soccer in Latin America; two played
varsity baseball and helped their team reach the first league
p1ayoffs for their school in anyone’s memory; and WILL
graduates are active in their communities and churches, including
singing in their choirs and chairing youth ministries. ”

"I’ve learned that no matter how many obstacles
I find in my way, I have to overcome them. I’ll
put heart and soul to anything I’ll do in school
because I’ve learned to believe in myself."
— Stefany
"I learned
how to lead and not follow and not to get easily influenced
by people."
