Do you want to challenge
the limits that hold you back and have fun at the same
time?
Do you know you can have the life you want?
Do you want to be a leader?

It's your adventure. Join the WILL family and see new possibilities for your life.
WILL stands for Wilderness, Leadership, and Learning. But it’s much more than those three words. WILL is also:
- A family that trusts and respects each other - Whether we’re out on an adventure or giving back to the communities that raised us, we’re in it together. Finding out who you are is incredibly rewarding if not always easy - we’re there for each other.
- An adventure program - We have taken some incredible trips, which you can read about by going to the Programs page, or by hearing it straight from our members quoted on this site.
- Mainly for 9th and 10th graders - WILL can help you complete your community service hours and get useful hints about what colleges are looking for when making admission decisions—plus the WILL can write great letters of recommendation for you. We can also help you uncover scholarship, student loan, and financial aid opportunities.
- FREE - We ask that you commit to the WILL program for one year after you join. That means that you come to meetings and actively participate in our programs. What you give, you get—we return your commitment by making sure your experience is the best it can be. We also want you to keep in touch after you leave the formal WILL program, something you’ll want to do because of the bonds you’ll form.
We believe that you have what it takes to be a leader and to succeed in life. WILL can help you live that potential and discover your inner strengths.
WILDERNESS: The wild beauty of nature is the perfect place to have an adventure that draws us outside of our comfort zones to find new self-confidence and to work as a team.
LEADERSHIP: We allow you to discover and fulfill your leadership potential. As you see how you can make a difference, you serve as a role model in your D.C. community.
LEARNING: We learn about ourselves, each other, and the world around us through trips and activities that take us outside of our day-to-day lives.
"Respect
your environment. If you don’t respect it, you
won’t have an environment, to make it simple."

Dear
Steve,
I
wanted to share a little story of personal success
that I attribute to WILL. On the 27th
of October I found out that I was promoted in the
Cafeteria (in which I have worked since my first semester
at school) from a level one entry level worker to
a level three supervisor because of my emphasis on
teamwork, problem solving skills, and inclusion of
all persons working on my shift. This year I
was also appointed to President of undergraduate Black
Caucus by the Graduate Black Caucus Executive Board.
This happened only after serving one year in the general
assembly. They stated in the letter that my
outgoing personality and ability to lead others were
the main attributes that qualified me for the appointment.
I
would like to thank you for helping me to develop
and improve my teamwork and leadership skills!
I can say that without being in WILL I would not have
accomplished so much.
—
